INICET 2026 Score vs Rank
INICET is scored out of 200 marks using a +1/−⅓ scheme. Your raw score is converted to a percentile, and rank is assigned within each category. With only ~815 seats and a serious candidate pool, rank swings of 50–100 positions per mark are common at the competitive end. The table below is based on memory-compiled data from past sessions and is indicative only — actual outcomes vary with paper difficulty each session.
| Score (out of 200) | Approximate Rank Range | What It May Get You |
|---|---|---|
| 170 – 180+ | Top 20–50 | Radiology, Dermatology at AIIMS Delhi |
| 160 – 170 | 50 – 150 | Cardiology (DM), Dermatology at regional AIIMS; most specialties at AIIMS Delhi in range |
| 150 – 160 | 150 – 400 | General Medicine / Surgery at AIIMS Delhi; top specialties at JIPMER/PGIMER |
| 140 – 150 | 400 – 800 | Paediatrics, OBG at AIIMS Delhi; most specialties at regional AIIMS |
| 130 – 140 | 800 – 1500 | Pathology, Micro, PSM at AIIMS Delhi; clinical specialties at regional campuses |
| 115 – 130 | 1500 – 3000 | Anatomy/Physiology at AIIMS campuses; qualifying range for counselling (UR) |
| Below 115 | 3000+ | May not qualify (50th percentile threshold) |
- · Smaller candidate pool = bigger rank swings. In NEET PG, 1 mark may shift your rank by 50–100. In INICET, the same 1 mark can shift your rank by 150–300 at the competitive end because fewer candidates means bunching at certain scores.
- · No official answer key to verify. After the exam, you cannot calculate your exact score. Memory-based recall papers give approximations, but accuracy varies.
- · MCC questions add uncertainty. Multi-correct questions have variable point outcomes. If you got some right and some wrong in MCC, you may not know your exact score.
- · Paper difficulty varies. A session where the paper is 10% harder will shift the entire rank distribution. A score of 145 that gives rank 600 in an easy paper may give rank 350 in a harder paper.
| Single Correct (SCQ) | +1 for correct, −⅓ for wrong, 0 for unattempted |
| Multiple Correct (MCC) | +1 (all options correct), +1 (partial credit if some correct and no wrong selected), −⅓ if any wrong option is marked, 0 for unattempted |
| Total Questions | 200 (mix of SCQ and MCC) |
| Maximum Marks | 200 |
| Score to Percentile | Raw score converted to percentile — rank is percentile-based, not raw-mark-based |
INICET publishes separate rank lists for each category — UR, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, EWS, and PwBD. This means a raw score that places you at overall rank ~800 in UR might place you at category rank ~150 in SC. The percentile threshold for qualifying is the same (50th percentile for UR, 40th for OBC/SC/ST), but the seat available to you depends entirely on your category rank.
When estimating your chances, always look at your category rank, not your overall rank. A score outside the UR counselling range may place you comfortably within OBC or SC range, opening clinical specialties at regional AIIMS that would be unavailable under UR.
