Frequently Asked Questions
What is the FMGE 2026 passing marks?
150 out of 300 (50%) for all categories. No relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwD. Score 150 or above — you pass and get the FMGE pass certificate.
Why is the FMGE pass rate so low (40–50%)?
Several factors: curriculum differences between Indian and foreign MBBS programmes, language barriers (especially for China/Russia/Ukraine graduates), lack of clinical exposure in some countries, and underestimating the exam. Structured preparation using Indian MBBS standard books significantly improves pass rates.
Can I get NMC registration without passing FMGE?
No. NMC registration for foreign medical graduates is conditional on passing FMGE (or NExT in the future). Without FMGE pass certificate, you cannot legally practice medicine in India.
