FMGE 2026 Exam Date — June Done, Oct 31 Session Added
FMGE was conducted twice a year by NBEMS until late August 2026, when the board announced a move to three sessions a year. The June 2026 session was held on June 28, 2026, with the result declared on July 7, 2026. NBEMS then added a new session on October 31, 2026 — and pushed the session that was scheduled for January 9, 2027 to a later date in late January or February 2027.

The exam that was on the calendar for January 9, 2027 has been rescheduled to a later date in late January or February 2027, to make room for the new October 31 session. NBEMS has not yet announced the exact revised date. If you were preparing specifically for the January 9 slot, you now effectively have two options ahead: the October 31, 2026 session (sooner, less prep time) or the rescheduled Jan/Feb 2027 session (more prep time, later start to practice).
FMGE is conducted in two sessions on the same day:
- Part A (Morning session): 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM (2.5 hours, 150 questions)
- Lunch break: 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM
- Part B (Afternoon session): 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM (2.5 hours, 150 questions)
You must report at the exam centre at least 30 minutes before Part A. Entry is not permitted after the exam starts. Carry your printed admit card and a valid government photo ID.
If you missed the June 2026 session, the October 31, 2026 session is your next opportunity — only about 4 months later, and notably sooner than the January 2027 slot it partly replaces. With FMGE now running three times a year, the gap between attempts is shorter than before, but that also means less time to prepare if you're aiming for the very next sitting. The national average pass rate for FMGE is 40–50%, meaning nearly half of all candidates fail each session — systematic preparation from Day 1 is critical.
If you are currently in the final year of MBBS abroad, you can appear for FMGE in the session closest to your graduation. You must have completed your MBBS degree before applying.
